Tropical flavor paradise meets compliant trimmed flowers in this seedless triploid hybrid. Oregon CBD paired their Suver Haze production mother with a type I, varin-rich variety, then selecting over several generations to lock-in targeted traits of interest, and were able to create the highest, fully legal CBD content variety available to humans. Rich aromas of mango, guava, and coconut merge with the berry notes from VERB to create what may become the most relaxing plant on the planet. Incredible bag appeal with resin covered solid green flowers. 40%-55% of the total cannabinoid fraction is high value CBDV.

What is CBDV Hemp Flower?

CBDV (Cannabidivarin) Rich Hemp Flower

CBG Hemp Flower is the flowering tops or "buds" of  hemp plants rich in CBDV

CBDV hemp will change the face of the sourcing for this cannabinoid. Up until recently CBDV was difficult to obtain and expensive, meaning it was rarely available to manufacturers or consumers.

CBDV hemp also has impressive benefits to farmers as the varietes will not go hot, always having less than 0.3% THC.

2021 has seen the introduction of new seeds leading to crops of CBDV rich hemp containing up to 50% of this cannabinoid as a percentage of total.

Oregon CBD Farms have been the pioneers in this new variety development.

You can read about their development of these new CBDV varieties on their website here: some great science! From their website where they discuss this exciting new branch of the cannabis family.

For the generations living under prohibition, there has been a strong association between beautiful, aromatic cannabis flowers and THC. In the past few years, that mental and experiential linkage has been challenged by breeding innovations and the farming of non-intoxicating varieties grown at a national scale. Farmers have used our CBD and CBG cultivars to win an astounding number of awards (>40) in the past 5 years, while broadening access to previously unavailable cannabinoids in a way never seen before.  In the ultimate blind-consumption event of 2020, the Cultivation Classic, Horn Creek Hemp beat out all other varieties--including elite THC clones--to win the event's flagship "Credible Cultivar" award with our "Sour Space Candy".  A new era of cannabis consciousness has been opened by these compounds and pioneering farmers. We like to think of the non-intoxicating branch of cannabinoids as "performance enhancers," in that they seem to consistently provide benefits particularly relaxation and focus--without mental or physical impairment.  Each cannabinoid has its own character and unique super-powers, all of which allow us to experience the life-enhancement possible from these flowers.

We can't wait for you to try what's next!

Our team is hard at work completing the world's first production runs of triploid, CBDV-rich cultivars in time for the 2021 planting season in North America. These boundary-breaking plants are effectively sterile, unaffected by pollen, and produce large, richly aromatic flowers that are still federally legal for total THC after drying and trimming (<0.3% total THC). This April 1st seed release, five years and untold hours/dollars of R&D in the making, is extremely limited for 2021 and the flowers will be coveted all around the world.

Our “varins” program is one of the most in-depth chemical and genomic studies of cannabis undertaken; every person in our little company played an important role contributing to the development of these game-changers, and pulled off the final stages in the midst of a global pandemic. Farmers can rest assured that these seeds represent the new high-water mark for cannabis breeding.

Our 2021 CBDV-rich varieties—Pine Walker Seedless and Forbidden V Seedless—produce the highest CBD(V):THC ratio (45:1 average) ever measured in industrial hemp. Forget about pre-harvest compliance test concerns and be assured that trimmed flower will not exist in a grey area any longer—these new varieties contain half as much total THC as standard CBD-dominant seed or clones, making their finished products fully legal in many international markets as well.

CBDV is chemically similar to CBD, but elicits unique effects (casual consumers will find that it provides calm, focused energy, coupled with muscle relaxation) and is the target of multiple pharmaceutical research commercialization efforts. After internal testing, we’re confident that most consumers will prefer the nuanced effects of a balanced CBDV/CBD flower over pure CBD.

In addition to being sterile F1 triploids, the seeds are also certified organic (Oregon Tilth) and GMO-Free (NSF).

CBDV Hemp Flower Uses

CBDV Hemp can be used for production of hemp and CBG products.

2021 has seen the large scale production of high CBDV hemp flowers for the first time, so we can expect to see a full range of CBDV products to complement current CBD and CBG offerings.

Because CBDV flower features very low THC levels, they are even more friendly to legal cultivation, processing and distribution of flower, extracts and finished products.

CBDV Hemp Flower Extraction for Medicinal Use

CBDV Extracts are a growing sector, and like CBG before it the new CBDV oil like CBG before it offers a similar, but different range of effects and benefits.

Initial impressions suggest CBDV has comparable but distinctly different effects to CBD for a range of uses, but the science is still at a very early stage so we will learn more soon.

CBDV Hemp Flower Extracts

Most CBDV Hemp Flower is extracted to produce CBDV Oil, CBDV Distillate, CBDV Isolate and a range of other products.

CBG Hemp Flower Uses

Premium CBDV Flower is able to be used direct as a medicinal herb - CBG is showing significant promise and reportedly feels great to consume, without being intoxicating.

Common methods of consumption of herbs such as

  • Herbal Tea - CBDV Hemp can be used as a herbal tea, steeping it in boiling water
  • Vaporising - CBDV Hemp flower can be vaporised like CBD Hemp flower or medical cannabis.
  • Smoking - CBDV Hemp flower can be smoked like CBD flower or medical cannabis.
  • Making CBDV topicals such as creams
  • For use in making CBDV edibles and cooking

The best quality of CBDV flower flower for this has been grown and cultivated to medicinal cannabis standards, ideally to a GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) quality standard and with full product integrity from seed to sale.

This generally involves hand harvesting, controlled drying and curing processes and trimming to retain potency, flavour, medicinal value and consistency.

Smokeable CBDV Hemp Flower

Smokeable CBDV Flower refers to CBDV hemp where the buds have been trimmed and prepared for consumption via a herbal tea, vaporisation or smoking as above.

This should produce a comparable quality flower to CBD hemp flower or medical cannabis flower.

CBDV flower is very delicate compared to CBD hemp, so producing a quality crop is highly dependant on harvesting and processing expertise and processes.

CBDV Hemp Seeds

CBDV Hemp Seeds rare available from Oregon CBD Seeds

CBDV Hemp Biomass is currently much rarer and in high demand this year, but we can expect to see much more of this new, previously rare cannabinoid moving forward.

CBDV Hemp Flower Harvest

CBDV Hemp Flower Harvest occurs at a similar time and is performed with similar methods to CBD flower harvest. In the USA, most high CBD and CBG hemp was harvested in October and CBDV hemp should be similar.

CBDV Hemp Flower Processing

CBDV Hemp Flower Special Considerations

CBG Hemp trichomes seem comparable to premium CBD or THC heavy trichomes. Rough handling may result in loss of potency during processing

CBDV Hemp Flower Cultivars

There are two CBDV hemp flower varieties currently available: Pine Walker and Forbidden V. Both are seedless triploid varieties with high flower yields.

CBDV Hemp Flower Breeders

The leading CBDV hemp breeder in the USA is Oregon CBD Seeds.

CBDV Hemp Flower Pricing

CBDV Hemp Flower is currently priced at several times CBD flower for extraction grade biomass and flower, and about 50% higher for high quality smokeable flower.

Legality of CBDV Hemp Flower

CBDV Hemp Flower is legal in regions which have legalised industrial hemp including high CBD hemp. In other jurisdictions it may be treated as medical cannabis, as it is not a traditional fibre/food hemp cultivar.

CBD Hemp Flower is almost always under 0.3% THC due to it's unique genetics and varin cannabinoid profile.

Testing, Harvesting and Handling High CBG Hemp Flower

Legal and compliant production of high CBD hemp flower requires special high CBDV hemp genetics, licenses, permits, cultivation practices and testing protocols. Failure to follow these during production means that the crop grown may exceed the legal limit (for example 0.3% THC). For example, seeds of high CBDV hemp cultivars should be acquired from a suitable source who has scientifically validated their seed for factors such as CBDV and THC production, germination rates and female:male ratios.

Difference between CBDV, CBG and CBD Hemp flower

CBDV flower is potentially very similar to comparable high CBD or THC cultivars, but early varieties have had distinctly piney terpene profiles. Like CBD and CBG we can expect to see an expansion in varieties in the varin space, which is famous for the high THCV South African landrace variety Durban Poison.

Otherwise these plants are relatively similar in production and yields, and we can expect to see an explosion of different cultivars in high CBDV variants internationally.
